Malleable black iron nipples are short lengths of pipe with external (male) threads on both ends, used to connect other pipe fings. They are made from malleable iron, which is heat-treated to be more duc le and less bri le than standard cast iron. The “black” refers to the black oxide coa ng that provides mild corrosion.
